Learn More About the Event and How to Prepare

Our event is hosted by The Collective. The selected venue is an urban basecamp for the mind, body + soul. Located at 400 Dexter Avenue North in the lobby of the Juno Therapeutics headquarters, The Collective’s founders designed the space to deliver a specific experience for guests. Alpenglow the site of the Standing Room Reception guests for our event, includes a communal hammock and a bouldering wall. Alpenglow hosted the PyCascades Sprints. For the many cyclists of Seattle, founders of the venue offers members all gender showers. All restrooms for our event are all gender.

For a special celebration intended to highlight the contributions of Guido van Rossum during his stint as BDFL for Python and his language creator colleagues, this guideline for planning for the event is intended to provide for your maximum comfort during an evening presented as a special celebration of computing.

In true Seattle fashion, come as you are. From Birkenstocks to black tie apparel, dress as you wish. Please keep in mind the comfort of your fellow attendees. Keep in mind that PuPPy the producer of the event intentionally curates one of the most inclusive memberships amongst the many global Python groups that comprise the worldwide Python community.

  1. Black tie if you want
  2. Birkenstocks okay
  3. Dress to your comfort
  4. Be respectful of your fellow guests
  5. Have fun

Currently we are certain to have at minimum a 70 minute conversation of the language creators moderated by ACM Software Systems Award honoree Carol Willing. We may have an intermission and a second half of additional 70 minutes of conversation.

If we decide to hold a longer discussion, we will start earlier in the evening at 5:30pm. The Collective located amidst the bulk of Amazon’s buildings, a future pair of Facebook buildings, and the future home of Google Cloud in 600k square feet of buildings, is the nexus of some of Seattle’s busiest traffic. The trolley serves the area and has a stop a walkable distance away.

Ride shares are priced very affordably in Seattle, as a compact city most trips are short in distance.

There are many buses that serve the area, and with the Seattle Department of Transportation's redesign of bus lanes, you will have shorter travel time than riding in a passenger car.

The building features parking accessible from the alleyway behind the building. After the conclusion of the business day at 5pm, there is often street parking available. Pay at the city meters for the parking fee. Pay to park till 6pm.

PuPPy, the producers of this benefit event for CSforALL, is an inclusive community. The very first PuPPy meeting 54 months ago was a mini-conference that featured discussions on allyship and helping more women join the ranks of software professionals.

As with all PuPPy events the PuPPy Code of Conduct is in effect. Please make sure you have read the Code of Conduct before attending the event.
